Since I’ve returned from my two week trekking break spent in
various parts of the Garhwal Himalayas, India which ended in the Har-Ki-Doon
valley (11,500 ft above sea level), I have been witnessing familiar faces all
around the city!! Innocent, simple, beaming with light…people whom I met and
saw during my expedition…they seem to be all around the place….my eyes
searching for them and the moment I find them I get this sense of happiness
& joy….a feeling that cannot be described in words…a feeling of satisfaction
& delight…as if they are some different clan or belong to another planet!!
Their kindness reflects through their face and makes you feel warm and
happy…happy right inside to the extent that you feel honored to have met them
in the first place!!
While on the expedition, I often got a feeling of déjà vu
whenever I saw the locals there, brimming with hope and extremely simple when
they spoke those few words that they did, a feeling of having met them a lot of
times in the past and that there is a strong connect with them already!! The
people there didn’t ask too many questions, were extremely grounded to their
customs & culture, lead a very simple life, respected their guests, would
love to talk about their culture and the way they live, never assumed anything
unless communicated…in short very kind and pleasing to the eye!!!
The Himalayas do leave an effect on oneself…an extremely
peaceful and calm kind of sense prevails…a zone that is hard to find and would
surely require a lot of effort and dedication to get into!!! There is a state
of bliss that the soul is in…one feels that the body is back but the soul still
remains up there…in the snow clad mountains…giving you a sense of sheer
satisfaction of being able to be up there and experiencing the nature...sounds
that you would rarely hear in a big maniac city!!!
